How to get your blog noticed in 5 simple steps

Table of contents

The first step to improving your website is making sure you are constantly keeping your audience up to date with changes in your industry, business, products and services. The easiest and cheapest way to do this is through your blog. However sometimes you might feel that your blog is not reaching and connecting with who it should be.

To help improve the exposure of your blog I’ve put together the top 5 things you can do to instantly see improved results and an increase in traffic to your website.

1. Add sharing icons to your blog posts

You may feel you’ve written a well thought out blog post but it hasn’t attracted the readers to view it. Adding sharing icons is an absolute no-brainer – If people are finding value in your posts give them the option to share it on social media.

2. Share your posts on social media

This is a great way to kick start the exposure of your blog posts. Your audience might not be going to your website every day but will definitely be going to Facebook and Instagram.

If you are getting good feedback from your posts you can also look at promoting or boosting your post to gain further visibility. Just make sure you are targeting the social media channels  your audience will most likely be on.

If you bake cupcakes you’ll want to make sure you’re posting on Instagram & Pinterest. However if your website is targeted towards finance you may want to look at posting on LinkedIn and Facebook.

3. Give your readers the opportunity to subscribe

A simple way to increase your readership is to offer a way for your visitors to subscribe to your newsletter. You can’t always rely on your content being able to stand out on social media amongst the hundreds of other posts. You can still get to users that are interested in what you have to say by offering a simple newsletter sign-up form on your blog post.

4. Increase the speed of your website

Seems like a strange thing to worry about, right? But the speed of your website can have a huge impact on how and if your audience is engaged in your content. More than 40% of your visitors will abandon your website if it takes more than 3 seconds to load, so make sure your website is optimised to increase engagement and keep your audience coming back for more.

5. Track the success of your blog posts

If you have a way to track the success of your previous blog posts, investigate your analytics and identify what posts have received the most amount of traffic. What posts are being shared and liked on social media?

This will help you identify what content your audience is engaging with most and you can then replicate that formula in future posts to increase your chances of success.

These 5 tips are only scratching the surface on the different marketing tactics you can use to increase your blogging success. A successful blog keeps users engaged with your content, your brand and your products and services.
